Caledonian Games

Last weekend we spent some time in Athena, OR with Michael's parents. It was the annual weekend of Caledonian Games. It is a Scottish Festival that is over 100 years old. Hayden got to experience his first parade, featuring lots of bag pipes! There were clans represented from all over and dancing in the park. The high school fields doubled as the headquarters for the games which included sheep hearding, sheath tossing, and the caber toss. It was all very interesting and the town doubles in size for the three days of festivities! When we could stand the heat we were able to do lots of people watching and we cheered our friend Bill on in the sheath toss competition.
